Did you know the 23rd February is Shropshire Day?
No, I didn’t until last year.
It is also St Milburga Feast Day. She died on this day in seven something or other. She was the second Abbess of, what was then, Wenlock Abbey.
Shropshire Day is a day for celebrating everything that is wonderful about Shropshire.
Shropshire has a rich history and heritage with the first Iron bridge, the first Iron framed building. Further back in history we have iron age hill forts and stone circles.
We have beautiful churches and castles in various states of repair.
Shropshire AONB covers our beautiful hills in the south and the meres and mosses in north Shropshire.
There are museums to visit, places to explore and places for short walks and long walks.
Shropshire also has easy access into other counties, another country, Wales, and our second city, Birmingham.
So want to visit a place with lots to offer, come to Shropshire.
