Buildwas Abbey is on the way to Ironbridge. It is well worth a visit but is not accessible if you have difficulty walking or use a wheelchair as their are steps up to it from the carpark.
There is a small charge for car parking at Buildwas Abbey.
Buildwas Abbey is in an enclosed area but still gives an impression of the wealth that the monasteries held.
The tiles from the Church floor have been moved to preserve them but some are still in their original positions, they are beautiful as you can see.
Buildwas Abbey was a silent house but they did have one room where they could converse.
There was also a warming room. Something I had never considered was that these places had no heating, this would be the only room to have a fire.
