The River Teme runs through Ludlow, Leintwardine, and Bromfield which are all within a few miles of Folly View.
The source of the River Teme is between Dolfor in Powys and Anchor in Shropshire. It emerges from the ground at 450 metres above sea level and its confluence is 81 miles later with the River Severn at Worcester at just 14 metres above sea level.
There are three sources within a few metres of each other and As the River Teme meanders its way through the borderlands, between England and Wales, it crosses the border numerous times.
The River Teme flows through Ludlow where it is joined by the River Corve. Other tributaries locally are the River Clun which flows into it at Leintwardine and the River Onny at Bromfield.
As a rural river, it flows through many landscapes including, grazed border uplands and valleys giving way to softer farm land. It flows through two AONBs, Shropshire Hills and Malvern Hills.
In recent years the otter population along the River Teme has been improving but salmon levels are still low. The whole length of the River is designated a SSSI.
Salmon can be seen leaping over Dinham Weir from Dinham Bridge near the Millennium Green in Ludlow. Some of the weirs have been broken in places to allow the salmon to travel further upstream. There are plans to remove weirs completely in some places.
You can enjoy the River Teme by walking the Bread Walk in Ludlow or by sitting and enjoying a coffee and cake at the Millennium Green Cafe. The Charlton Arms sits above the River Teme and a drink or meal can be enjoyed overlooking it.
Wild Swimming can be enjoyed at Leintwardine near the Sun Inn and you can walk along the banks at Bromfield near the Ludlow Food Centre.
