Spring Marches On

We have had a few sunny days which make everything in nature burst into life.

We have had the odd rainy day which, of course, helps.

The daffodils are now past their best but there is so much out there to look forward to.

I found Bluebells on Onny Meadows, they are just starting their season and although there is not yet a carpet of them, as there is in Sallow Coppice, there are enough to brighten your day.

The Lady’s Smock have started flowering in the meadow by the River Onny as have some Wood Anemones.

The ramsons, whose garlicky smelling leaves have been about for some weeks, are now pushing up the buds of their flowers.

On warmer days I have seen peacock, tortoiseshell, brimstone and orange tip butterflies. They have either fluttered by or I have disturbed them while they have been sunning themselves on bare earth.

There is pussy willow on the willows.

The fruit trees are producing blossom, all shades of white and pink.

Trees are giving stronger hints of green, with promises of verdant times to come.

These were the highlights of my walk, there was much to see and enjoy, more than I have mentioned here.
