Well the Shropshire Way 80k is over for 2022.
There was a fantastic turnout, with over 600 runners.
The Shropshire Way 80k is a fundraising event for the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre. This year they hope to develop further a wetland area and put in accessible hide for bird watching.
The fast male runner on the 80k race did it in seven hours, fifty five minutes. The fastest female took ten hours and five minutes.
The intermediate race, a full distance trail marathon, saw the first male do it in four hours and sixteen minutes and the first female did it in four hours twenty one minutes.
The half mammothon is a distance of 21km, the first female covered the distance in two hours two minutes and the first male managed it in two hours eleven minutes.
These were all great times. The conditions were ideal for the runners for running through the Shropshire countryside.
There was a warm up session before the event started. The runners were able to fuel up at feeding stations where local food was available. These were operated by volunteers and overall forty helped out.
We hope everyone who took part will be back next year either as runners or volunteers.
