I was walking with my friends son on the Onny Meadows at the weekend. The dogs were playing and stones were being skimmed over the water on the River Onny and I sat on the bench keeping count.
To start with two or three skims was about the limit. Then it started creeping up to five or six. Then a ten was achieved. WOW!
On our way home I showed my Skimmer Extraordinaire the sign for the World Stone Skimming Championships and Other Stone Games at Walcot Lake on July 8th 2018.
There is free entry, with the event starting at noon and finishing at 5pm.
Sets of four stones for adults are £3.
Prizes are hand painted stones or a small certificate .
The other games include Stepping Stones and Table top Curling.
The money raised at the event will be passed on to the RNLI.
The event takes place at Walcot Lake, Walcot Hall, Lydbury North, Shropshire, SY7 8AZ
